Smile Together India Foundation is a non-profit organization that works towards creating sustainable livelihoods for marginalized populations. We believe that access to sustainable livelihoods is a fundamental right, and it is critical for individuals and communities’ well-being. In this blog, we discuss how Smile Together India Foundation works towards creating sustainable livelihoods for marginalized populations.

The activity focused on ensuring sustainable livelihood to the poor population

• Vocational training- Training on different vocational courses – Vocational courses as Marketing, communication, Health care, Computer related skill etc,
• Capacity building on farm sector- The activity as providing training to farmers on different agro practice, providing crop advisory to farmers, Farming with organic inputs
• Formation of Farmer producer company for collective production and marketing to do organize production and realize better price of their produce.

Identifying Marginalized Populations

The first step towards creating sustainable livelihoods for marginalized populations is to identify these communities. At Smile Together India Foundation, we use various approaches to identify marginalized populations. These include:

1. Community mapping: We conduct community mapping exercises to identify communities that are marginalized and in need of support.
2. Socio-economic surveys: We conduct socio-economic surveys to identify households and individuals who are living in poverty and facing challenges in accessing sustainable livelihoods.
3. Participatory approaches: We use participatory approaches to involve community members in identifying their needs and challenges.

Supporting Sustainable Livelihoods

Once we have identified the marginalized populations, we work towards supporting their sustainable livelihoods. We take several measures to support sustainable livelihoods. These include:

1. Skill development: We provide skill development training to individuals and communities to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship skills. We also provide vocational training to enhance their skills in specific trades.
2. Microfinance: We provide microfinance support to individuals and groups to start small businesses and ventures. This support helps them to generate income and improve their livelihoods.
3. Market linkages: We create market linkages for marginalized communities to connect them with markets for their products and services. This helps them to increase their income and sustain their livelihoods.
4. Agriculture support: We provide agriculture support to farmers and agricultural workers to enhance their productivity and income. This support includes access to seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs, as well as training in modern farming techniques.

Empowering Communities
